Welcome to The Village Baker café, home of good food, flavorful Milano coffee and great service on beautiful Bowen Island. We make all our baked goods, breads, breakfast and Lunch products from scratch with the best ingredients locally supplied, where possible.

At The Village Baker we are proud of the high quality of our bread. Using traditional artisan baking methods developed in Europe. We use natural starters, no additives and unbleached flour. Breads are baked on the premises from scratch everyday, flavors changing seasonally.

The Village baker café’ is the talk of the island, the place locals recommend to visitors. The friendly staff scrumptious food and wonderful ambience bring islanders and visitors back time after time.

Breads

Our artisan breads are made from scratch from a traditional French recipe.

We use unbleached flour and no additives.

Made fresh daily whole-wheat and White loaf, Baguettes and rolls. Please ask if you wish to have loaves sliced.

Sandwiches

Sandwiches made fresh to order on in house made breads. Fillings include ham, turkey and BLT’s. Our popular breakfast sandwiches are on grilled toast, English muffins or toasted bagels. The favorite ferry rush breakfast item is Santa Fe wrap, scrambled egg, avocado, two cheeses and salsa on a whole wheat or white tortilla wrap. We also have seasonally changing specialty sandwiches and wraps.

Pies

Lasagna, shepherds pie, Jamaican pie, chicken potpie and the famous chicken tarragon pie.

Savories

Made from scratch Cornish pasties, sausage rolls, Jamaican pattys, spanakopita and samosas.
